Apple held its iPhone-focused ‘Awe Dropping’ event yesterday, and while its new smartphones and Apple Watch were the main draw, we also got a long-awaited update to AirPods Pro.
The new third-generation makes small improvements, though, which is a testament to just how good the second-generation ones are. Better yet, we’ve found a fantastic deal on those older ones that’s likely to be music to your ears.
Over at Amazon outlet, Woot, you can get a set of refurbished Apple AirPods Pro (2nd Gen), with the more recent USB-C charging case, for $124.99.
That’s a decent deal, but the real draw is a voucher code that nets you 20% off, bringing them down to a cool $100. Simply add ‘EARBUDS20’ at checkout and you’re good to go.
So, what’s the big deal? Quite a lot, actually. AirPods Pro are small enough to fit in your pocket, but powerful enough to drown out noise with their Active Noise Cancellation. There’s also head tracking with spatial audio, so you can immerse yourself in a movie or TV show while travelling.
Perhaps the biggest recent addition, however, is that AirPods Pro 2 can be used as hearing aids for users who need that extra feature. All of this for $100? That’s a great deal.
In case you are tempted by the new models, they’re retailing for $249 for preorder. That’s a steep climb on what you’re getting here.
For your extra $150, you’re essentially getting extra battery life and Active Noise Cancellation that Apple says is twice as effective as the second generation on sale here.
You can also enjoy more impressive Live Translation features with Apple Intelligence, such as being able to converse in your native language with someone also wearing AirPods Pro 3 and hear them speak back and have it automatically translate.
