The latest Pixar movie has come to digital two months after its initial theatrical release. Despite receiving some fairly solid reviews, Elio struggled at the box office during its run in theaters. The film suffered the lowest opening at the box office for any Pixar film ever. But now that it's available to watch at home, will it find a new audience?
Elio is currently available to rent or buy on VOD platforms such as Prime Video and Apple TV. It will eventually make its way to Disney+ alongside all of the other Pixar movies, but for now it will cost you $25 to rent or $30 to buy digitally.
Where to Watch Elio
For Prime Video rentals, you have 30 days to actually watch the film once you make a purchase. But once you actually start playing the video, you only have 48 hours before its removed from your Amazon library. Other digital platforms have similar rules for rentals.
If you decide to buy the film on digital for $5 more, this will let watch the film any time as long as Amazon retains the rights to it. So if you really want to own this movie, I'd suggest waiting for the physical release.
If you're planning on waiting for the movie to come to streaming, we unfortunately don't yet have a Disney+ release date.
The Elio 4K Blu-ray Steelbook Is Up for Preorder
Alongside the digital release, Amazon and Walmart have the new 4K steelbook up for preorder. The steelbook includes both the 4K and Blu-ray disc as well as access to a digital copy of the movie. This edition of the film is currently set to release on September 9, 2025.
