A new animated series is on the way for the world of Pokémon, from a very famous UK animation studio. Aardman Animation Studio announced today that it's partnering with Pokémon for a stop-motion animated series, Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch'd & Pichu, arriving in 2027.
Aardamn Animation Studio is well-known for its work on stop-motion animated features, perhaps most notably the Wallace & Gromit series. With Pokémon Tales, Aardman is centering two particular Pokémon: Sirfetch'd and Pichu.
As co-founder Peter Lord said in today's Pokémon Presents showcase, the new series will take place in a region "very close" to the studio's hearts, told from the perspective of Pokémon and with Aardman's comedy chops. Given Aardman's UK background and Sirfetch'd being featured, we can easily assume Pokémon Tales will take place in the Galar region.
The short teaser we got today shows Sirfetch'd and Pichu up to some hijinks, as a Wooloo calmly enjoys the outdoors. It does seem like the comedy and tone are already in the right place.
Alongside Pokémon Tales, the second season of Pokémon Concierge got a firm release date at today's Pokémon Presents. Netflix's stop-motion animated series about an employee at a Pokémon resort won over some hearts when it first premiered, and now we're getting a follow-up on September 4.
It looks like Haru is back at work again, this time dealing with the sudden re-appearance of her ex. Chill vibes, cute Pokémon, and relatable crises seem to all be in store for Pokémon Concierge Season 2, which is now only a little over a month away.
Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch'd & Pichu, meanwhile, is aiming for a much further target in 2027.
