No Streaming Service Can Take Away the Cartoons You Get in Amazon's October Prime Day Deals

The world of animation has given us some of the most beloved characters in fiction. It's also been the source material for many, many modern memes. Whether it's a Nickelodeon show I rewatch for the nostalgia or a more recent adult show that's willing to take digs you'd never see in live action, I'm willing to stand behind the fact that cartoons plain rock.

For some reason, streaming services (looking at you HBO Max) don’t seem to agree, and are constantly pulling cartoons from their library. When I broke down every Cartoon Network show removed from HBO Max, I realized that the only way to watch a lot of those shows was by owning them on DVD. Well, thank goodness for Prime Day, because an absolutely banging list of cartoons are included in Amazon’s Buy 2, Get 1 Free deal.

Best Cartoon Deals in Amazon’s Buy 2, Get 1 Free Deal

You don't even need to be a Prime member to access the promotion. Just add three eligible items to your cart (there's a pretty wild spread of movies, books, and vinyl), and Amazon will discount the cheapest item down to $0. The deal also stacks, giving you one free item for every three in your cart, so feel free to go a little wild.

One of the biggest cartoon highlights from the promotion is the full collection of Courage the Cowardly Dog. My colleague Jacob wrote about Courage getting removed from HBO Max earlier this year, which caused quite a ruckus on social media. Plenty more Cartoon Network shows are eligible for the deal, including Over the Garden Wall, The Amazing World of Gumball, and Infinity Train.

MTV also had a solid spread of cartoons back in the day. Daria was a personal favorite, which I now realize wasn’t the best model for my personality as a teenager. Mike Judge's Beavis & Butthead also started off on the music video channel. The full collections of both series are there for the taking.

Bringing us to the modern era of cartoons, Bluey has been an absolutely massive hit with the younger generations. As far as I know, it’s one of the most popular shows on any streaming service, and the Bluey movie coming out in 2027 will probably break every box office record known to man. A collection of the first two seasons is included in the ‘3 for 2’ deal, while later seasons have discounts exclusively for Prime Members (there's no harm in signing up for a free trial).

On the superhero side, I didn’t manage to find any of the Batman cartoons, but the deal does include the 2003 Spider-Man cartoon we put near the top of our Spidey cartoon tier list.

And did I mention SpongeBob? Plenty of individual seasons are up for grabs in the promotion, but a real deal for collectors is the 300 Best Episodes collection. Released last October, the box set actually includes 306 episodes, all of Seasons 1 to 14, across a whopping 44 discs. I'd claim SpongeBob as one of the best shows in any medium, period, and while the quality may dampen in later seasons, I think that series will always hold up. IGN staff picked out some of our favorite SpongeBob episodes back in 2018, which is a great starting point with a collection that big.
